Hỏi đá xanh riêu bao nhiêu tuổi đời

Hỏi gió phiêu du qua bao đỉnh trời

Hỏi những đêm sâu đèn vàng héo hắc

Ái ân bây giờ là nước mắt

Cuối hồn một thoáng nhớ mong manh

 

Thuở ấy tôi như con chim lạc đàn

Xoải cánh cô đơn bay trong chiều vàng

Và ước mong sao trời đừng bão tố

Để yêu thương càng nhiều gắn bó

Tháng ngày là men say hồn thơ

 

Tình yêu đã vỗ cánh rồi

Là hoa góp mặt cho đời

Chắc chiu kỷ niệm dĩ vãng

Em nhớ gì không em ơi.

 

Màu áo thiên thanh thơ ngây ngày nào

Chìm khuất trong mưa mưa bay rạt rào.

Đọc lá thư xưa một trời luyến tiếc,

Nhớ môi em và màu mắt biếc,

Suối hẹn hò trăng thanh đầu non.

Tears from stones

Just ask the old mossy stone

The wind who had come from far away

And ask the late dimly lit nights

They'll say that what was love is now tears

Leaving a lingering sorrow in the bottom of your heart

 

I was just like a stray bird

Soaring alone in the yellowish dusky sky

Wishing the weather would not turn into storm

So as love may flourish

And days, months become a source of poetry.

 

Love now has gone for ever,

It was just like a flower that appears then fades away.

I cherish every memory of the past,

Do you remember any of these, my darling ?

 

The pure pale blue colour of your old dress,

Blurred behind the rainy curtain of those days.

In re-reading the old letters,

An ocean of memories re-emerges.

I remember your lips, your limpid eyes,

And the spring where we used to meet

At the foothill under the bright moonlight.
