CIRCUS WORKSHOPS
FOR EVERYBODY
Corporal acting
Circus skills
Mixing of both
FOR
PROFESSIONALS AND PRE-PROFESSIONALS CIRCUS ARTISTS,
ACTORS,
ANY OTHER ARTISTIC SKILL PRACTICER IN LIFING ART.
FOR CHILDREN
FOR PHYSICALLY AND MENTICALLY HANDICAPPED PERSONS
From one day to one month courses.
Physically and mentally educational.
Project written by Céline Perrot, pedagogic responsible.
FEW PEDAGOGY POINTS
. Priority of the quality on quantity (ex: it's better if someone do only one figure well than three bad)
. Respect of others and security rules
. Help others: learn to secure them.
. No competition: each one does what he can with his own possibilities.
. Take pleasure: make an effort is not negative! and concentration cans rhyme with smile.
. Children under 7 years old (and preferably 9 years old) will not do circus skill but only corporal acting, acrobatics and juggling. First because this teaching is special, cause of their different tonicity and concentration, and so don't correspond to a short course. Secondly that needs other equipments, more little.
But if you really want courses for younger, we can envisage it.

WHAT
SKILLS
I. Corporal acting/expression (theatre without word)
II. Acrobatics and juggling
The combination of both is good but it's possible to separate them.
III. Circus skills A
Tight-rope and climbing rope
This doesn't ask more materials (or not so much) than I carry with me for the performance
IV. Circus skills B
Unicycle, balancing board and balancing ball.
Possibly trapeze, but this skill is special, require one person all the time in this workshop, contrary to other ones where after a first good learning, children learn to be autonomous to secure others and one teacher can turn on 3 workshops (maximum). Of course one person per skill is the best.
My teaching capacities don't go more than the first bases, for technique further training, refresher course, we have to ask to somebody else for all circus skills except tight-rope. For climbing-rope, corporal acting and contemporary dance I can give medium courses (for professionals but not for experts)
TIMETABLE
. Each lesson at least 1½ H
. Each lesson begins by a warming-up and finishes by a stretching and relaxations.
. The first day (or 2 first days for a longer one) all students turn on all circus skills workshops to choose one and keep it until the end.
Usually their tastes are balanced, but sometimes... not. In this case we speak with everybody and try to reorganize following logical and respect of each person (consult us if you want more details). That to say the number of person in each circus skill workshop is not fixed in advance. So to provide the number of apparatus as a function of number of students (see the table of Equipment) still be approximate.
Examples
Requiring several teachers (or assistants, see tables following)
We can do a mix of all lessons:
20 min warming-up
30 min acrobatics
30 min juggling
30 min circus skills
10 min stretching and relaxations
Good for children.
Mix of corporal acting and other living art, learnt by the example of circus skill. For professional or preprofessional.
45 min warming-up
1h30 acrobatics
2h00 corporal acting
1h30 dance
1h30 circus skill (axed on actor work, only few technical bases given to beginners)
2h00 personal research (alone, by group, on his chosen circus skill or not), work presentation
between us all 3 days.
45 min stretching
Not more than 10 days following (because of the very intensive program). And this program requires one cooker!
A variation is to begin by few days only with corporal acting lessons.
That's what we often practice, but it's only examples. All combinations are possible (in coherent limits).
Possibly to do a work presentation at the end of the course, if it does 7 days or more.

FOR WHO
CHILDREN
Initiation in circus from 9 years old.
Corporal acting from 4 years old.
Even for children, we do a real serious work. I mean it's not a big disorganized game, but a special program followed, in the way to improve, to feel deeply, discover really what is circus or actor work. Of course lessons are adapted to children mind, and body. Of course we play too, but an educational play, that mean concentration and not to let off steam. Anyway, it could become dangerous whereas it's not if simply rules are respected (for example, not to shout, someone surprised easily falls).
It's not necessary children have practiced sport before.
ADULTS
Preferably professional and pre-professional only, but it's possible to engage workshop for special projects are motivated amateurs companies.
For people who wants to learn to teach initiation.
TEENAGERS
Between children and adults pedagogic program. One solution or another is possible, depending of the group. Meaning a simple initiation or a work in a professional way.
HANDICAPPED PERSONS
Details depend of the group, consult us.
MIX
Of course all the lessons are mixed, male and females.
We can also mix ages, or handicapped persons and not, it is really rich. Just for courses with only corporal acting it's not preferable to mix children above 12 years old with other, just because the problem is not tackled by the same way.

Assistant: for children, with big group one other person is necessary to manage all little things: who wants to drink or anything else, who quarrel, language problems, etc.
The choice of this person is, a priori, yours.
+ 1 teacher for trapeze, if you choose this option (not written in the latter table).
Of course, it's possible to be more teachers and assistant:
. to 1 teacher per skill
. to 2 teachers in actor lessons
. more assistants

Research Students work alone but all teachers are present and at disposal if they need help. |
||
No special minimum of students.
Not forget that if more persons are interested we can partake in several groups and turn in the different lessons, workshops. For example with a group of professional of 20 persons, we will cut in 2 groups to privilege the quality. In another side, the number of student can be increased if we increase the equipment, especially with adults more autonomous and with possible concentration time longer.
For handicapped persons, consult us, it's depending of each group.
