British pop star Boy George (C) leaves Thames Magistrates Court in east London, 22 November 2007. Boy George, whose real name is George O'Dowd, is charged with false imprisonment. George pleaded guilty to falsely reporting a burglary at his lower Manhattan apartment in New York in 2006.

Le chanteur britannique Boy George, accusé d'avoir enchaîné un "escort-boy" à un mur de son domicile, sera jugé le 25 février prochain devant un tribunal de Londres.

Le procès de George O'Dowd, de son vrai nom, s'ouvrira au tribunal de Snaresbrook (nord-est de Londres) le 25 février, a décidé le Thames Magistrates' Court, qui a laissé le chanteur en liberté sous caution.

Célèbre dans les années 80 pour des tubes comme "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?", Boy George était présent à l'audience, vêtu sobrement d'un costume noir. Il a simplement confirmé son identité et sa date de naissance.

Il a été inculpé le 13 novembre, mais la police n'a pas détaillé les faits lui étant reprochés, indiquant simplement qu'ils étaient survenus le 28 avril dans l'appartement du chanteur dans le quartier branché de Shoreditch, dans l'est de Londres.

En août, l'ancien chanteur de Culture Club avait troqué le micro pour un balai, purgeant une peine d'une semaine de travaux communautaires à New York après avoir faussement déclaré un cambriolage à son appartement de Manhattan.

Boy George a quitté Culture Club en 1987 pour mener une brève carrière en solo avant de se reconvertir en DJ et de lancer sa propre marque de vêtements, B-Rude.

Gobsmacked Boy George signed an "autograph" for a fan while DJ-ing at a gay nightclub - only to be told it was a £36,000 writ.

The gay entertainer was on the decks at 3am amid hundreds of revellers, when a lurking solicitor sidled up to the DJ stand.

Amid the writhing bodies and pumping music the lawyer, disguised as a clubber, handed the pop star a piece of paper. Thinking it was an autograph-hunting fan, the DJ duly obliged with a quick signature - which will now cost him £36,000 - the cash he owes after being sued by a club promoter.

Le papier a été présenté à Boy George le dimanche 11 novembre, alors qu'il animait une soirée au club gay Essential à Manchester, selon le cabinet d'avocats engagé par la promotrice Kasia Saleh. Le chanteur avait annulé sa participation à une soirée organisée par Saleh à Los Angeles après son arrestation en octobre 2005 pour possession de drogues à New York. Boy George doit par ailleurs paraître devant un magistrat le jeudi 22 novembre après son inculpation pour «faux emprisonnement» d'un escort dans son domicile londonien

 A visit to Hong Kong by Boy George is in doubt after the 1980s pop star was accused of chaining a male escort up in his London flat, a news report said Thursday. His London court date falls just two days before he is due to appear as a special guest at the fifth anniversary party of Hong Kong's swanky iDragon club and his appearance is now in doubt, the South China Morning Post reported.

The male escort, who claims Boy George produced whips and sex toys, said he escaped from the flat after wrenching a hook out of the wall.

La demande statutaire servi dans la boîte de nuit lui donne 21 jours pour payer ou de l'action face à la faillite.

Mme Saleh, de Winwick, Warrington, pour lui reprocher la disparition de son Club GAY États-Unis entreprise après avoir annulé une apparition dans les États à bref délai.

Un juge a déclaré que la trésorerie était de couvrir la perte de revenus et dépenses.

Un porte-parole de Levy Solicitors, le cabinet de Manchester qui a servi à la demande, a déclaré: "Nous avons essayé de le faire, alors qu'il portait en lui, mais nous manquer et elle avait tellement à faire dans le club. Dans un premier temps il a obtenu la mauvaise fin de la Et le bâton autographié, mais alors quand on lui a dit ce qu'il était, il a été gobsmacked. "

Il a déclaré que si Boy George est en faillite, Mme Saleh pourrait saisir ses biens au lieu de la dette.

Unfortunately for him, the `fan' was working for a firm of lawyers and was serving a legal document demanding that he pays a £31,000 debt or face bankruptcy.

A High Court judge in Manchester had ordered Boy George, real name George O'Dowd, to pay the cash to Cheshire promoter Kasia Saleh for pulling out of a concert.

He was given until November 2 to pay the money but failed to come up with the cash.

The statutory demand served in the nightclub gives him 21 days to pay up or face bankruptcy action.

Ms Saleh, of Winwick, Warrington, blamed him for the demise of her Club GAY USA venture after he cancelled an appearance in the States at short notice.

A judge said the cash was to cover loss of income and expenses.

A spokesman for Levy's Solicitors, the Manchester firm which served the demand, said: "We tried to get him as he went in but we missed him and so it had to be done in the club. At first he got the wrong end of the stick and autographed it but then when he was told what it was, he was gobsmacked."

He said if Boy George was bankrupted, Ms Saleh could seize his assets in lieu of the debt.

A spokesman for Essential confirmed that Boy George, 46, had played in front of a capacity crowd but said they didn't know that he had been served with a statutory demand.

He said: "We are however aware that someone in the club did try to hand a document to Boy George whilst he was DJ-ing. I believe he just tossed it into the crowd."

Boy George's agency declined to comment on his client's behalf.
