 Boy George nie avoir séquestré un homme 

Boy George a nié avoir séquestré un homme de 28 ans à sa résidence l'an dernier. Jeudi, l'ancien chanteur de Culture Club a plaidé non coupable à des accusations de séquestration lors d'une audience du tribunal qui a eu lieu à Londres.

Audun Carlsen, un homme d'origine norvégienne, prétend que Boy George l'a menotté après qu'il se soit rendu à l'appartement londonien du chanteur. Il s'y rendait pour travailler comme mannequin pour une séance de photos. L'incident serait survenu en avril dernier.

Boy George est apparu à la Cours sous son vrai nom qui est George O'Dowd. L'artiste de 46 ans est libre sous caution. Son procès aura lieu le 24 novembre 2008.

Singer Boy George has pleaded not guilty to a charge of false imprisonment.

The pop-star and DJ appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court, in east London, accused of assaulting and imprisoning a male escort on April 28 last year.

It is claimed he chained escort Audun Carlsen to the wall of his home in Ravey Street, Shoreditch, east London.

The 46-year-old, who shot to fame in the 1980s with Culture Club, stood outside the court and smoked a cigarette before entering the building.

Dressed in black and wearing dark glasses, the singer was listed in court under his real name George O'Dowd.

During the 20-minute hearing, O'Dowd spoke only to confirm his name, state his not guilty plea and say he understood the terms of his bail.

The singer spent time talking with lawyers before leaving the court building, thanking fans who turned up to offer support.

He said only "no comment" to waiting press before leaving in a black Volkswagen people carrier.

O'Dowd was bailed to reappear for trial at the same court on November 24.

Vingt discothèques anversoises participeront le 2 mai prochain à la première édition de l'Antwerp Dance Festival. Plus de 100 artistes et DJ's se produiront à cette occasion en différents lieux de la région anversoise, a indiqué mercredi la société organisatrice de l'événement, Ironyx, lors d'une conférence de presse au Noxx, un club qui a ouvert ses portes il y a quelques mois dans la métropole.

Ironyx avait déjà été à l'origine de la "Nuit de l'Etudiant" (Nacht van de Student) à Anvers. Tous les grands clubs anversois ont confirmé leur participation à ce nouvel événement. Il s'agit notamment du Café d'Anvers, du Carré à Willebroek et de l'Illusion à Lierre. Le lancement de l'Antwerp Dance Festival aura lieu à la gare d'Anvers-Central.

Le ticket sera vendu au prix de 19 euros. A la remise de celui-ci, le jour de l'événement, les fêtards recevront un bracelet qui leur donnera accès aux différents lieux. Les organisateurs ont également prévu des navettes de bus et des taxis à un tarif préférentiel afin de conduire les participants d'un point à l'autre.

Côté musique, le style variera du hip hop à la techno. De grands noms, tels que l'icône des années 80 Boy George, Milk Inc et Felix Da Housecat, figurent à l'affiche. Ils seront accompagnés de DJ's résidents et locaux. La Ville d'Anvers soutien l'événement. Un accord a par ailleurs été conclu avec la plate-forme de prévention Partywise, pour sensibiliser les jeunes participants sur les méfaits de la drogue et de l'alcool. La prévente des tickets a démarré mercredi. Les organisateurs espèrent rassembler quelque 30.000 fêtards.

The decision by Boy George to set out on the road for the first time in many years was greeted with delight by an army of loyal fans. Lighting specialists LXCo were asked to provide the visual look for the former Culture Club frontman, DJ and style icon, having worked previously with promoter Stars + Angels and provided lighting for the singer's warm up shows at the Shaw Theatre in London.
   The tour of mid-sized venues such as The Sage, Gateshead, The Lowry Centre, Salford and The Colston Hall in Bristol saw the star ‘dipping his toes' back into live performing, so the emphasis was very much on a lightshow which complimented the music rather than an “all guns blazing” spectacular.
   “The brief from Boy George was, ‘There is no brief',” says LXCo's Mark Wheatley. “We used in-house lights at most venues, supplemented by a small number of moving lights and special effects to lift the performance into something special. Apart from the hits like Karma Chameleon and Church of the Poisoned Mind, we didn't know what to expect so it was important to be versatile.”
   Working with musical director John Themis, Mark armed himself with Mac 500s, Mac 600s, ACL Bars and 4-Light Blinders to create a variety of visual moods. These were able to create distinct looks for the show's ballads as well as songs from Boy George's musical ‘Taboo'. “The Macs allowed me to do creative things with the backdrops and isolate parts of the stage, while we knew Church of the Poisoned Mind was going to be much rockier than the single so the ACLs gave me somewhere to go with that.”
   He planned the layout to allow maximum speed of set up and reduce the need to rely on the venue for technical support, “It meant we were less reliant on in-house lighting teams, allowing a quicker, more efficient build for the production,” says Mark.
   Boy George was reportedly delighted with the end result, to the extent that further appearances by the flamboyant singer in 2008 are highly likely.
