RESUME
Le destin de Boy George ressemble à celui de toute les rockstars. Le succès, ses avantages, mais aussi ses travers, la drogue, la dépression... Mais ce qui différencie Boy George des autres stars et qu'il a affiché son homosexualité au grand jour, en a joué, alors que d'autres ne l'ont jamais révélé. Ce reportage revient sur sa sexualité évidemment, la formation du groupe Culture Club, la drogue, ses problèmes avec la presse... A la découverte de l'artiste et de l'homme.

George réalise ce documentaire, suite au succes de "the crying game" et pour le lancement de la compil "at worth, the best of..."
On le voit avec Quentin ship, Michael dunne, jon moss, etc...

KEN BOOTHE "EVERYTHING I OWN" 02-07-2006

Quel point commun entre Shaggy, UB 4O et Boy George? Ils ont tous repris les hits de Ken Boothe. A 56 ans, Mr Rocksteady reste le roi des lovers.

Un peu de tendresse dans un monde de brutes... C'est toute l'histoire de Ken Boothe. Grandi à Kingston, dans le ghetto de Denham Town, il s'initie à la musique grâce à sa mère qui chante à l'église et à sa sur qui joue dans une troupe musicale. A la fin des années 50, Ken traîne dans le quartier de Back-a-wall, devenu aujourd'hui Tivoli Gardens. Il y rencontre les légendes du ska et forme un duo avec le chanteur Stranger Cole. A 14 ans, ses talents vocaux le font passer dans la cour des grands.

Repéré par le producteur Duke Reid puis récupéré par son concurrent le patron de Studio One, Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, Ken enregistre ses premiers hits. Son backing-band s'appelle les Skatalites. Sa voix colle parfaitement à un genre considéré comme l'âge d'or de la musique jamaïcaine: le Rocksteady. Entre 66 et 68, toute l'île danse sur cette soul tendre et positive. On compare alors Ken à Otis Redding. En 74, en Angleterre, son tube "Everything I own" explose au sommet des charts. Plus dure sera la chute. Alors que ce premier hit aurait pu lui permettre de devenir une star internationale, à Londres cette année-là, son label anglais Trojan fait faillite. Pour Ken, c'est la descente aux enfers de la dope.

En 40 ans de carrière, Ken Boothe n'était jamais venu à Paris. Au Cabaret Sauvage, comme pour conjurer le sort, Ken le Maudit a fait salle comble.
